Managing the Risks of Greek Life on Campus

Greek Life can provide your students a sense of community, comradery, and purpose. However, as recent events and tragedies on several U.S. campuses show, Greek Life can also lead to hazing, mental health concerns, alcohol and drug abuse, and other medical safety issues. The LiveSafe Mobile Platform can be leveraged in several ways, from reporting safety incidents and medical emergencies to using SafeWalk late at night, to promote safety and security in Greek Life.

Use this Toolkit to provide your community tips for staying safe and being informed of some of the Greek Life risks.

Tips to Protect your Campus with LiveSafe

  1. Emphasize anonymity with reporting tips, especially for sensitive issues such as hazing and bullying, alcohol or drug abuse, or mental health concerns. Anonymous really does mean anonymous with LiveSafe.
  2. Remind students to use the SafeWalk feature while walking home from parties or other social events late at night.
  3. Send broadcast messages before large social events, i.e. Homecoming, Halloween, Pledge Week, etc. to keep students informed.
