Arlington, Va. – Preventing sexual assault on America’s college and university campuses is the reason LiveSafe is proud to announce SafeTalk, a series of symposia that will bring together leading minds from across the country on this topic. Advisors to the series include, Chelsea Clinton, Harvard University’s Meera Seshadri from the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response, and Georgetown University student Nora West.

Starting this fall, participants and attendees will discuss a broad spectrum of strategies to confront and end sexual assault on campus including empowering students as activists to lead on the issue, using ubiquitous technology to enhance information sharing, and creating a culture of safety.

“Helping young women feel empowered to take action on this critical issue is key for them to reach full potential and participation in society,” said Chelsea Clinton from LiveSafe’s Advisory Board. “Given the pervasive use of mobile technology, it is exciting to see that students are using LiveSafe to prevent sexual assaults and to keep themselves and their communities safer.”

Each event will consist of interactive panel discussions for both an in-person and virtual audience. A live webcast of each event will be available via the LiveSafe website and an archive of the discussion will be made available to the public following each event.

“LiveSafe is committed to being part of the movement to reduce incidents of sexual assault and violence,” said Jenny Abramson, President and CEO of LiveSafe. “We are proud to work with university partners to take advantage of the fact that almost every student is carrying a smartphone in their pocket. Discreetly connecting students to each other as well as to safety officials is a powerful step towards improving the situation on campuses around the country.”

“University partners in 18 states from across the country are seeing real impact on the issue of sexual assault through the use of LiveSafe by students,” added Shy Pahlevani, Partner Advocate & Strategic Growth and Founder of LiveSafe.
