ARLINGTON, Va. – Today, Virginia’s Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones visited LiveSafe to highlight the company as a Virginia entrepreneurship success story.

With partner institutions across the Commonwealth serving over 75% of students in Virginia, and many university partners from coast to coast ranging from the University of Southern California to the University of Kentucky, Secretary Jones quickly learned why LiveSafe is the leading campus safety technology for students everywhere.

Secretary Jones was impressed by LiveSafe’s success in education as well as its expansion to other industry verticals, including the military, professional sports, and the corporate sector. Secretary Jones said that “companies like LiveSafe, that are focusing on B2B verticals, are exactly what the state needs right now.”

We discussed why Virginia is a great place for us. Access to talent, and infrastructure, along with the fact that Northern Virginia is a hub for security firms, meant we could get off the ground quickly. Additionally, the Commonwealth’s CIT GAP Fund provided the seed capital needed to grow and scale to the point where we could raise a $6.5 million A Round from IAC in New York.

Now that LiveSafe has moved past the early stage to scaling our technology solution across industries, Secretary Jones said that his job was to promote LiveSafe across the Commonwealth and across the country. We are happily lending him our megaphone. We also agree with him that it’s our collective responsibility to make Northern Virginia a nurturing place for all current and future entrepreneurs.
