Public School System: Student Commute Safety

Public School System: Student Commute Safety
Resources

The Customer

This public school system is located in a major U.S. city and serves approximately 51,000 students at 117 K-12 schools. Over 4,000 teachers, 109 principals, and 2,900 support staff are employed across these schools.

The Situation

Students in this public school system reported feeling unsafe on their commutes to and from school each day. Many experienced assault and harassment, and some were even killed on their commutes. Security needed to equip students with mobile protection and a means of reporting threats and incidents in order to enhance safety and security on school commutes.

The Solution

Officials introduced the LiveSafe Mobile Platform to students in 20 schools as a pilot program before expanding to all schools in the system. Students were then able to use LiveSafe features such as the Safety Map, Tip Submit, and SafeWalk from their mobile devices to stay safe.

The Result

With LiveSafe, students can report suspicious behavior, use SafeWalk for their commutes to and from school and other activities, and access important school safety resources. LiveSafe enabled risk mitigation and increased the sense of community safety for students.
